Peak Body Roundtables

In 2016 the Greater Sydney Commission invited representatives of peak organisations in the social and environmental fields to form two independent advisory panels. Panel members were asked to advise the Commission on high level strategic directions related to preparing six draft District Plans.

The Social Panel was co-convened by the Commission’s Social Commissioner and the CEO of the National Council for Social Service. The Environment Panel was co-convened by the Commission’s Environment Commissioner and the CEO of the Total Environment Centre.

Both Panels prepared advisory papers which gave advice to the Commission on strategic environmental and social priorities. Both the Environment Advisory Paper (PDF, 7 MB) and Social Advisory Paper (PDF, 4 MB) were finalised in November 2016. The Commission used the Advisory Papers as input to the draft District Plans, released for consultation in November 2016.
