Greater Sydney Commission Chief Commissioner, Lucy Turnbull AO, said the Awards are an important way of highlighting the significance of outstanding planning practices.
“Great planning shapes a city and a commitment to excellence and quality planning outcomes now can determine Greater Sydney’s trajectory for generations.
“We’ll be celebrating the bold and innovative plans and projects that are helping create a more liveable, productive and sustainable Greater Sydney.
“Last year’s awards were a resounding success and I’m looking forward to again putting a spotlight on planning and design that puts people and communities first,” Ms Turnbull said.
The 2019 Awards build on the success of last year’s event, which recognised projects that championed active transport, community collaboration, economic innovations and thoughtful approaches to sustainability.
The six award categories for the 2019 awards are:
- Great community collaboration
- Development supported by infrastructure
- Great new place to live and/or work
- Planning for jobs and skills
- Great sustainability initiative
- Planning disruptor
“From community projects to large scale developments, it was a great pleasure to review some fantastic and diverse nominations last year and we’re excited to see what this year’s nominees have in store,” Ms Turnbull said.
Nominations are invited from local authorities, developers, consultants, community groups, public agencies, partnerships and other teams. The nominated project can be from the proponent or be nominated by another individual, group or body.
Nominations close on Friday 10 May 2019
